HOW THIOCOLCHICOSIDE WORKS: Thiocolchicosideact as a muscle relaxant by activating GABA inhibitory pathways. Thiocolchicoside is an anti-inflammatory drug which is used as muscle relaxant in the treatment of painful muscular conditions.
CONTRAINDICATION OF THIOCOLCHICOSIDE: If you hav ehypersensitivity to Thiocolchicoside kindly avoid this medicine. Kindly avoid this medicine during pregnancy and lactation.
PHARMACOKINETICS OFTHIOCOLCHICOSIDE :Thiocolchicoside absorption is rapidly after oraladministration. Half-life of Thiocolchicoside is approximately 5 to 6 hours. Average Peak Plasma Concentration of Thiocolchicoside is 49 mg/ml. Thiocolchicoside is mainly excreted by feces (79%) and 20% excreted by urine.
SIDE EFFECTS OF THIOCOLCHICOSIDE: The most common side effect of Thiocolchicoside is allergyand vasovaal reactions. Other side effects are liver injury, pancreatitis,seizures, blood cell disorders, yellowing of skin and eyes, Photosensitivity, Dry mouth, Headache etc.Thiocolchicoside can often cause skin disorders like rhabdomyolysis, and reproductive disorders. In experimental animals,Thiocolchicoside is teratogenic. Sometimes Thiocolchicoside damageschromosomes.
PRECAUTIONS:If you see any signs of liver toxicity like Abdominal pain inthe upper right portion of the abdomen, Fatigue, Loss of appetite, Nausea andvomiting stop to taking Thiocolchicoside. If you have a diarrhoea during the administration of this drug kindlyavoid medicine. Take this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding only ifit is clearly needed.
