APPLICATIONSOF CITICOLINE: Uses of citicoline for age-relateddecline in memory and thinking, glaucoma, stroke, Alzheimer disease, bipolardisorder, depression, and many other conditions,but there is no good scientific research to support most of these uses.

HOWTO USE: Citicoline hasmost often been used by adults indoses of 500-1000 mg by mouth twice daily for up to 12 months. CONTRAINDICATIONSOF CITICOLINE: Avoid giving high dose citicoline (>500 mg) in intracranial bleeding.Pregnancy and lactation. Cardiac disorders: Bradycardia, tachycardia. Eyedisorders: Diplopia. 

PHARMACOKINETICSOF CITICOLINE: Citicoline is water-soluble,with more than 90% oral bioavailability. Plasmalevels peak one hour after oral ingestion, and a majority of the citicoline isexcreted as CO ₂ in respiration, and again 24 hours afteringestion, where the remaining citicoline is excreted through urine.

SIDE EFFECTS OF CITICOLINE:  Citicolinewas well tolerated in clinical trials. Adverse effects may include GI disturbances, transient headaches, hypotension, tachycardia, chest pain, irregular heartbeats,bradycardia, and restlessness. 

PRECAUTIONS: Pregnancy and breast-feeding: There isn't enough reliable information to know if citicoline is safeto use when pregnant or breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.Children: Citicoline is possibly safe when taken by mouth for up to 1 year inchildren up to 13 years of age.
