HOW TO USE:  Iguratimod can be takenwith or without food. However, taking it food may help prevent stomachdiscomfort. It is usually taken 1-2 times daily, depending on your healthcondition and as advised by your doctor. Swallow Iguratimod as a wholewith a glass of water.The safety of Iguratimod duringpregnancy and lactation has not been established. Hence, it is advised toconsult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant orbreastfeeding.

 

HOW TO WORK:  Iguratimod is a disease-modifying antirheumatic medicine. It isbelieved to suppress the production of inflammatory substances in the bodyknown as cytokines, thereby reducing inflammation.

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Individuals with severe liver impairmentshould not use Iguratimod. It is also contraindicated in individuals withsevere renal impairment, and severe or uncontrolled infections.

 

 

PHARMACOKINETICS: Iguratimod israpidly absorbed after oral administration reaching a maximum concentrationwithin 2 hours. Iguratimod completely metabolize in liver. Excretion is done byfaces; most of the drug is excreted by bile.

 

SIDE EFFECTS: Diarrhea, Nausea,Rash, Abdominal pain, Vomiting, Stomatitis (Inflammation of the mouth),Photosensitivity, Decreased appetite, Itching, Hives, Nasopharyngitis(inflammation of the throat and nasal passages), Increased aspartateaminotransferase, Increased alanine aminotransferase, Aplastic anemia

 

PRECAUTIONS: You should routinely undergolaboratory tests (blood test, urine test, etc.). If you are breastfeeding,avoid breastfeeding while taking this medicine. Breastfeeding mothers shouldavoid breastfeeding while using this medicationIguratimod caninteract with anticoagulants (such as warfarin), immunosuppressants (such ascyclosporine) and potentially hepatotoxic medications (like acetaminophen).Overdosing on Iguratimod can lead to serious health issues such as severeinfection, liver injury, interstitial lung disease, and blood dyscrasias. If anoverdose is suspected, immediately seek medical help. If you forget to takethis medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, do not double the doseto make up for the missed one.
