HOW TO USE:Swallow yourgliclazide tablets whole with a drink of water. Do not chew them. If you aretaking 2 doses a day, take 1 dose with your breakfast and 1 dose with yourevening meal. If you are taking slow-release gliclazide, take your dose once aday with breakfast.

HOW GLICLAZIDEWORKS:Gliclazide, a sulfonylurea, helps lowerblood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes by stimulatingthe pancreas to release more insulin. It also improves the body'ssensitivity to insulin, making it more effective at controlling glucoselevels. Essentially, it helps the body use insulin more efficiently andeffectively. 

 

PHARMACOKINETICSOF GLICLAZIDE:Gliclazide is a sulphonylurea drug with an intermediate half-lifeof around 11 hours. It is extensively metabolised, and renal clearance accountsfor only 4% of total drug clearance. The molecule contains an azabicyclo-octylgroup which confers special properties on the basic sulphonylurea moiety.

 

SIDE EFFECTSOF GLICLAZIDE:Stomach ache or indigestion, Feeling sick (nausea) , Being sick(vomiting), frequent sips of water or squash to avoid dehydration, Diarrhoea, Drinklots of fluids, Constipation.
