HOW TO USE:Granisetron comes asa tablet to take by mouth.When taken to prevent nausea and vomitingcaused by chemotherapy, granisetron is usually taken 1 hour before chemotherapyis begun. A second dose may be taken 12 hours after the first dose depending onthe strength.

HOW GRANISETRONWORKS:Itworksby blocking serotonin, a natural substance in the body that causesnausea and vomiting.

PHARMACOKINETICSOF GRANISETRON:It is aserotonin5-HT₃receptorantagonistused as anantiemeticto treatnauseaand vomiting followingchemotherapyand radiotherapy. Its main effect is to reduce the activity ofthevagus nerve, which is a nerve that activates the vomitingcenter in themedullaoblongata. It does not have much effect onvomiting due to motion sickness. This drug does not have any effect ondopaminereceptors ormuscarinic receptors.

SIDE EFFECTSOF GRANISETRON: The normal side effects caused by GRANISETRON are headache,stomach pain, heartburn, constipation, difficulty falling asleep or stayingasleep, fever, flu symptoms.
