HOW TO USE: Lacosamide comes as a tablet and as ansolution (liquid) to take by mouth. It is usually taken twice a day with or without food. CONTRAINDICATIONS OF LACOSAMIDE: Lacosamide is contraindicated in patients who havedemonstrated a hypersensitivity to the drug or its ingredients, Depression, suicidal ideation, Hepaticdisease, Phenylketonuria, Pregnancy, Breast-feeding.

 

PHARMACOKINETICS OF LACOSAMIDE: The maximumLacosamide plasma concentrations occur about 1-4 hours after oraladministration, and the pharmacokinetics of Lacosamide are dose proportional. Food does not affect absorption. approximately 0.6L/kg; thus close to the volume of total body water. Lacosamide is a CYP2C19substrate.

SIDE EFFECTS OF LACOSAMIDE Common lacosamide (Vimpat) side effectsinclude dizziness, headache, and nausea. Fatigue and vision changes are alsopossible. These side effects are more likely with higher doses of lacosamideand usually go awayover time.
