STORAGE OF DABIGATRAN:Store PRADAXA at room temperaturebetween 68° F to 77° F (20° C to 25° C). Afteropening the bottle, use PRADAXA Capsules within 4 months. Safely throw away anyunused PRADAXA Capsules after 4 months. Keep PRADAXA Capsules in the originalbottle or blister package to keep it dry (protect the capsules from moisture).

APPLICATIONSOF DABIGATRAN: Dabigatran is used to treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT; a blood clot, usually in the leg)and pulmonary embolism (PE; a blood clot in the lung) in adults and children 3 months of age and older who have beentreated with an injectable anticoagulant ('blood thinner').

HOW TO USE: You can take dabigatran with or without food, but tryto take it at the same time every day. Swallow thecapsules whole with a drink of water. Do notopen dabigatran capsules before taking them as this increases the risk of sideeffects. If you have trouble swallowing pills, speak to your doctor orpharmacist. 

HOW DABIGATRAN WORKS: Dabigatran is ina class of anticoagulant medications called directthrombin inhibitors. It works by preventing bloodclots from forming in the body.

CONTRAINDICATIONSOF DABIGATRAN: Dabigatran is contraindicated in patients with a history of serious dabigatran hypersensitivity, suchas an anaphylactic reaction. Dabigatran iscontraindicated in any patient with active pathological bleeding, as dabigatranuse increases the risk of bleeding and can cause significant, sometimes fatalbleeding.

PHARMACOKINETICSOF DABIGATRAN: Dabigatran pharmacokinetics are dose proportional after single doses of 10 to 400 mg. Given twice daily, dabigatran's accumulation factoris approximately two. Elimination Dabigatran is eliminated primarily in theurine. Renal clearance of dabigatran is 80% of total clearance afterintravenous administration.

SIDE EFFECTS OF DABIGATRAN:   ifyou have any unusual bleeding or bruising, black, tarry stools, blood in theurine or stools, headache, dizziness, or weakness, pain, swelling, ordiscomfort in a joint, Stomach pain or indigestion, pinpoint red spots on yourskin, unusual nosebleeds, or unusual vaginal bleeding that is heavier thannormal.

PRECAUTIONS: Youmay need to stop using this medicine for severaldays before having surgery, including dental procedures. You may bleed and bruise more easily while you are using thismedicine. Be extra careful to avoid injuries. Stay away from rough sports orother situations where you could be bruised, cut, or injured.
